This spring I will
be teaching EDEX 794: Mainstreaming Exceptional Children in the general
education classroom. My plan is to use this technology class to explore
ways in which I can incorporate technology into EDEX 794. The World Wide
Web will be my source to research various aspects of inclusion.

with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandates that children with disabilities
be educated to the greatest extent possible with their non-disabled peers.
IDEA generated a greater demand for disabled students to spend more time
in the general education environment. The University of South Carolina
provides this course to inform teachers of the issues involved in meeting
the unique needs of children as members of a general education class.
This graduate course is designed to prepare teachers in both effective
teaching methods and collaboration to merge the expertise of both general
and special education teachers. Upon completion of this course, all
teachers, should have an understanding of academic and social demands made
on children in the general education environment. As educators, we
need to examine best practices in teaching all of our students.

adults in the legal profession. This program assists many persons
who have difficulites in processing language. The software operates
within any Windows application: word processing, spreadsheets, databases,
desktop publishing, e-mail, or the Internet.
is another instructional CD that depicts individuals with needs using assistive
technology. This software includes a wide variety of assitive technology
for persons throughout the lifespan.
Hyper Studio is
a multimedia software in which students (or teachers) can create a product
called stacks that consist of a series of frames or cards. These
cards can be developed from either a variety of templates or student generated
designs using both visuals and sounds.
Power Point is
a multimedia software in which students or teachers can create presentations
from predesigned templates. I will be using Power Point slides
to support lectures for EDEX 794.
