The instructional software that I choose to called Reader Rabbit 1. This particular software is manufactured by The Learning Company. Reader Rabbit 1is appropriate for k4-3rd grade. The subject area that it focuses on is Language Arts. This particular package is an educatioanl game . Overall, I beleive that Reader Rabbit 1 is extremely helpful for emerging readers because it helps students to recognize and spell more than 200 three-letter words. It also increases a child's vocabulary by associating pictures with their names. I especially liked how this program helps the student to improve his/her ability to identify letters, both by sight and by sound. Another strength of this Reader Rabbit 1 is that it helps the children become familiar with letter patterns, and building a foundation for accurate spelling. As an educator I might use this software to help children build a solid foundation with reading and phonics. This software will help prereaders match words with pictures, identify letters and their sounds, sort letters into words, and recognize spelling patterns.
