Portfolio Theme: Alcohol, Drugs, & Tobacco

ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ I chose this theme because it goes along with some of the 5^th grade science and health standards that I have to teach and this is the time of the year that I normally teach this. The students have to learn about the harmful affects that alcohol, drugs, and tobacco have on the body, especially the circulatory and respiratory systems, how these systems are needed for survival, and what some happen to these systems specifically from the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. Through my teaching, the students get to explore and learn strategies for handling peer pressure to use alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. Also, they get to learn about the different roles advertising plays in promoting addiction to alcohol, drugs, and tobacco.
