Elementary Education

Initial Certification Programs:

Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education (B.A.)
The B.A. is a degree program for undergraduate students  at USC who wish to teach and earn an initial South Carolina teaching certification for grades 2-6.

Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)
The M.A.T. is a degree program for those who wish to receive initial certification and a masters degree in an intensive, full-time year of graduate study.

Advanced Programs:

Master of Education (M.Ed.)
The M.Ed. is a graduate degree for certified teachers who wish to continue their professional education.   [Click Here for Information on Beaufort M.Ed. Courses]

Education Specialist in Teaching (Ed. S.)
The Educational Specialist is a post-masters degree program for career educators who wish to assume leadership roles as practitioners. The course accommodates full-time teachers.

Doctor of Education in Curriculum & Instruction: Elementary and 
Doctor of Philosophy (Ed.D & Ph.D)
Two doctoral degrees are available to meet diverse needs of candidates for doctoral study. The Ed.D. is planned for advanced-level educators who are pursuing doctoral study while employed. The Ph.D. Is preferred by educators who intend to teach in higher education.
